I was SUPER EXCITED to have the opportunity to review two new books offered by Vision Forum (which we LOVE!). The books are part of their new “Men of Grit” book series which are focused for teen boys. As the mother of a teen boy I can say there are not many good Chrisitan teen boy books available so we were very excited to get our hands on these!
The first book my son read was Brothers at Arms which is a story about two identical twin boys whose father is doing an experiment where one is allowed to do whatever he wants while the other is sent to the best schools, etc. The one who was allowed to do whatever he wanted joined the Army with the other following as his servant. The book takes you through all kinds of different adventures (there is even a bit of a love story!). Overall my son said his favorite part of this book was that it is packed full of action! (This book has very little to do with being Christian.)
The second book my son read was The Boy Colonel which is a story dating way back to the 1800′s. It has a lot about war and fighting (not too much blood) and has a lot of “twists and turns.” The book is about “Colonel Nobody” (whose parents died and no one knew his name), who is a Christian, and his adventures in war and life. The best thing about the book is finding out exactly WHO “Colonel Nobody” actually is.
Overall he would recommend them to other Christian teen boys, without hesitation. As his mother, let me tell you, once he picked them up he did not put them back down until he was done ~ so I KNOW they were good!
Both books sell for $14.00 each and can be ordered by visiting Vision Forum HERE. You can also like their Facebook page HERE.
